Subject: Global Sumud Flotilla and the Right to Humanitarian Access in Gaza

Statement from UEHRF

The Universal Environmental Human Rights Foundation (UEHRF) expresses its deep concern over the Israeli naval interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla, which was carrying humanitarian aid and international human rights activists towards Gaza.

The flotilla, composed of multiple civilian vessels, was a peaceful initiative aimed at breaking the ongoing blockade of Gaza and delivering life-saving supplies including food, water, and medical aid. Among the participants was Bangladeshi photographer and human rights defender Dr. Shahidul Alam, whose safety and wellbeing remain a matter of grave concern to the global human rights community.

Our Position

UEHRF strongly condemns any act that prevents humanitarian assistance from reaching civilian populations. Denying humanitarian aid constitutes a violation of international human rights and humanitarian law, particularly under the Fourth Geneva Convention.

We stand in full solidarity with all peaceful activists aboard the flotilla and call upon the international community, the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), and other relevant bodies to:

• Ensure the immediate safety and release of all detained activists and crew members.
• Guarantee safe passage for humanitarian missions to Gaza.
• Initiate an independent international investigation into reports of drone strikes, vessel sabotage, and use of force against the flotilla.
• Reinforce the right to humanitarian access and protect those who risk their lives to uphold it.

We urge all nations to act with conscience, humanity, and respect for life — for justice cannot exist where compassion is denied.
